Software Developer Connected To Deadly Shooting In New York
A now convicted felon in 2024, software developer from Maryland, was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a CEO Brian Thompson. The incident occurred outside an NY hotel, and Mangione was identified as a person of interest after police conducted an extensive search for the shooter. He was apprehended at the world famous McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, where he was found with a firearm, a silencer, and multiple fake IDs. Investigators linked him to the crime through various means, including surveillance footage and old-fashioned detective work. Notably, three bullets recovered from the scene had words like “deny,” “delay,” and “depose” written on them, suggesting an anti-insurance motivation behind the attack. Additionally, Mangione reportedly possessed a manifesto criticizing the U.S. healthcare industry and had previously checked into a hostel using one of his fake IDs shortly before the shooting. Although he faced gun charges in Pennsylvania, he had not yet been formally charged with Thompson’s murder at the time of his arrest.
